On August 28, a stand exhibition “Maxim Gorky and Sergei Yesenin” will open in Gorky Park, which will be included in the program of the arts festival "Bitter " in Moscow and will operate until September 28.

The exhibition will tell about the intersection of the fates of two of the greatest writers of the early 20th century. The exhibition will feature photographs of Maxim Gorky and Sergei Yesenin from the collection of the Moscow State Museum of S.A. Yesenin and the State Museum of A.M. Gorky in Nizhny Novgorod, as well as the State Museum – Cultural Center "Integration" named after N.A. Ostrovsky. Park guests will also see the poet's manuscripts and copies of lifetime publications related to the biographies of both writers.

The project will be part of the festival program "Each of Us Is a Little Bit Yesenin", dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the poet's birth. It will be held from September 10 to 30 and will reveal aspects of Sergei Yesenin's biography and work through the prism of the Silver Age.

Sergei Yesenin first saw Maxim Gorky in 1914, when the writer came to the Moscow printing house of I.D. Sytin, where the aspiring poet was working at the time. They met in person in 1915, when Yesenin began collaborating with the magazine "Letopis" (Chronicle) created by Gorky. The writers also met in Berlin in 1922.

Maxim Gorky closely followed the successes of Sergei Yesenin and in 1926 noted: “…What wonderful, sincere and touching poems he wrote before his death, how magnificent is his poem “The Black Man”, which has just been published. We have lost a great Russian poet…”
