GUIYANG, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) — China's cumulative intelligent computing power currently stands at 780,000 petaflops, ranking second in the world in the field, Liu Lehong, head of the National Data Administration, said Thursday.

Liu Lehong made the disclosure at the opening ceremony of the 2025 China International Big Data Industry Expo held in Guiyang, capital of southwest China's Guizhou Province.

The country continues to accelerate the construction of data transmission infrastructure, and as of the end of July this year, 25 city-level operation nodes had been established across the country, he said.

The progress is driven by China's "Eastern Data, Western Computing" project, which has become a strategic project to boost the country's productivity, Liu Lehong said, adding that China's eight state-owned computing centers currently account for more than 60 percent of new computing power, with intelligent computing power reaching 620,000 petaflops.

As the initiator of this project, Guizhou Province has focused on building the country's leading computing power center in recent years. In particular, the province has successfully built the world's first 400G all-optical computing power channel, which was announced at the aforementioned ceremony in Guiyang.

The three-day EXPO, which runs until August 30, features a wide range of events, including exchange meetings and specialized venues, with more than 16,000 guests and 375 enterprises from China and abroad participating. -0-
