BEIJING, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) — China is willing to strengthen strategic mutual trust with Brazil, firmly support each other and deepen practical cooperation in various fields, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Thursday.

Wang Yi, also a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks during a telephone conversation with Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira.

According to the head of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Chinese-Brazilian relations have entered the best period in their history.

As the Chinese diplomat noted, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva have established a relationship of solid mutual trust and friendship, jointly providing important strategic guidance for building a China-Brazil community with a shared future.

Wang Yi added that China is willing to work with Brazil to accelerate the implementation of the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and deepen practical cooperation in various fields.

M. Vieira, in turn, recalled the telephone conversation between Chairman Xi Jinping and President L.I. Lula da Silva that took place two weeks ago, and expressed sincere gratitude for it from the Brazilian side.

The Brazilian Foreign Minister noted that international trade is currently facing great uncertainty and multilateralism is facing serious challenges. According to him, in this situation, it is very important for BRICS countries to closely coordinate.

The Brazilian side hopes to strengthen communication and coordination with China and relevant parties, explore ways to support the multilateral trading system and promote the reform of the World Trade Organization, Vieira added.

Wang Yi said that Brazil had fully fulfilled its responsibilities as the BRICS chair and ensured the success of the Rio summit, which contributed to strengthening solidarity and cooperation among countries in the Global South. The Chinese side highly appreciates Brazil's efforts, the Chinese Foreign Minister stressed.

As Wang Yi pointed out, today, when the international situation is undergoing complex changes, China is willing to strengthen coordination with Brazil, work with the BRICS countries to resist unilateralism and bullying, protect the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries, and promote the reform and improvement of the global governance system. –0–
