BEIJING, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) — Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) administration is deliberately distorting historical facts about the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression with the sole purpose of making a fuss about its pursuit of "Taiwan independence," Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said at a regular press conference on Wednesday.
In this way, at the request of the media, she commented on a number of erroneous statements by the DPP about the war and the fact that the contribution of the Communist Party of China (CCP) to achieving victory is zero.
According to Zhu Fenglian, the DPP administration's slander and silence about the CPC's role as the central pillar of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression is a grave insult to the fallen heroes and a shameless betrayal of the entire Chinese nation.
She added that this completely exposes its insidious separatist designs in futile attempts to distort historical facts, provoke confrontations on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, and achieve its separatist goals regardless of the means.
Referring to DPP Chairman Lai Qingde, who in his own social media post called August 15 the 80th anniversary of the “end of World War II on the Pacific front” and avoided expressions such as “Japanese aggression” or “China’s victory in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression,” Zhu Fenglian noted that Lai Qingde’s remarks show that he has completely lost his national position and deliberately ignores the historical fact of the Chinese people’s anti-Japanese war.
From 1931 to 1945, Chinese daughters and sons, including compatriots in Taiwan, at the cost of enormous sacrifices defeated the Japanese militarists, defending state sovereignty and national dignity with their blood and lives, she stressed.
She expressed the hope that compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait will remember history, honor the memory of fallen heroes, firmly uphold common national interests and preserve the fruits of victory, and resolutely oppose separatist activities seeking “Taiwan independence” and external interference, so as to jointly strive for a bright future of national reunification and national rejuvenation. -0-
