TIANJIN, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) — The Tianjin Dredging Company of China Communications Construction Corporation (CCCC) on Tuesday announced the successful launch of the Tongjun, a super-large drag dredger.
On the same day, another similar dredger, named “Junguang”, belonging to the Guangzhou Dredging Company of the CCCC, was launched.
The simultaneous launch of two drag dredgers is said to indicate that China has achieved a leading position in the world in the production of large-scale dredging equipment.
Both dredgers are 198 meters long and 38.5 meters wide, making them the leaders in Asia in terms of mud hopper capacity.
The above dredgers are expected to be widely used in port and waterway dredging, sea sand mining, artificial land reclamation, deep-sea mining, trenching and backfilling, and deep-sea pipeline construction. -0-
