BEIJING, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) — China hopes the United States will stop unreasonably harassing, interrogating and deporting Chinese students studying in the United States and effectively protect their fair and legitimate rights and interests, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said at a press conference on Wednesday.
A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman made the statement while commenting, at the request of media representatives, on US President Donald Trump's readiness to allow 600,000 Chinese students to enroll in American universities.
"We hope that the U.S. side will actually implement President Trump's announcement to accept Chinese students," Guo Jiakun stressed, adding that educational exchanges and cooperation will help strengthen interaction and mutual understanding between peoples of different countries. -0-
