Astana, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) — Kazakhstan exported 12.6 million liters of beer in the first half of this year, a third more than in the same period last year, the Kursiv portal reported on Wednesday, citing data from the First Credit Bureau.

According to the bureau, this figure was the highest for January-June in the last ten years, starting in 2015.

Russia remains the main market for beer sales. Over the six months, 7.5 million liters of the drink were delivered there, which is 24 percent more than a year earlier. The average price of a liter of Kazakh beer exported to the Russian Federation was about 0.7 US dollars, which is almost half the cost of beer imported by Kazakhstan from countries outside the CIS. It is noted that mainly products of domestic factories are sent abroad, not re-exports.

In addition to Russia, an increase in purchases of Kazakh beer has been recorded in Belarus and Kyrgyzstan.

Earlier, Russian media reported on the interest of local companies in new brands from Kazakhstan, including products from Almaty and Kostanay breweries, which have been certified for entry into the Russian market. –0–
