CHANGCHUN, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) — The Northeast Asia (NEA) Regional and Country Studies Association has been established in northeast China's Jilin Province.
Its creation was announced at the opening ceremony of the 9th Northeast Asia Think Tank Forum, which is being held as part of the 15th China-Northeast Asia Expo.
As an academic organization committed to promoting the participation of various circles in the region in NEA cooperation, the association is willing to provide intellectual support to Jilin Province in expanding its opening up to the outside world.
The association was established on the initiative of the Jilin Provincial Academy of Social Sciences with the support of nine universities and research institutes located in Jilin Province. At present, it has 169 members. According to the association's chairman Jin Meihua, the key task of the association is to train specialists in the fields of country, regional and industry research. The areas of activity cover scientific research, consultation, organization of exchanges and formation of the structure and content of academic subjects and disciplines.
The forum participants expressed hope that the association will pool the resources of Chinese and foreign think tanks as much as possible, make efforts to develop academic exchanges in various disciplines, and play a role as a link in expanding regional cooperation in Northeast Asia. -0-
