BEIJING, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) — Beijing authorities on Wednesday unveiled a plan to promote the integration of 5G and the industrial internet, calling for at least 20 5G factories to be built in the Chinese capital by 2027.
According to the action plan for Beijing's innovative development "5G plus industrial Internet /2025-2027/" jointly released by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology and the Beijing Municipal Communications Bureau, the city plans to build at least 50 specialized industrial 5G networks and cultivate the same number of 5G end-to-end and industry-specific application solution providers by 2027.
In doing so, priority will be given to optimizing 5G network coverage in key manufacturing development zones and areas with a high concentration of enterprises in Beijing, as well as deploying industrial private 5G networks and 5G-Advanced (5G-A) networks in these areas.
Leading companies in sectors such as electronics, automobiles, machinery, biopharmaceuticals will participate in the construction of 5G factories, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology said.
Beijing is willing to accelerate the upgrade of “5G plus industrial Internet” technologies in areas such as industrial manufacturing, connected vehicles, and healthcare by promoting technological innovation and application. The city plans to advance the research and preliminary implementation of 6G networks in industrial scenarios for their commercialization in the future. -0-
