Since entering the 14th Five-Year Plan, Wuhan, following the main line of building a national center for scientific and technological innovation, has focused on technological independence and self-development, promoted the deep integration of technological and industrial innovation, and has produced impressive results in science and technology.

According to the data, Wuhan has achieved "six major breakthroughs" in science and technology: in 2024, there were already 16,630 high-tech enterprises in the city, and the business volume of technology contracts reached 260.833 billion yuan. The Hanjiang National Laboratory was established here, 41 national key laboratories were optimized and reorganized, and Academician Li Deren won the highest national award in science and technology. Thus, foreign isolation was broken through, and "Wuhan's strength" in such fields as fiber optic communication and biological breeding was demonstrated.

In practice, Wuhan has made multi-dimensional efforts: with Donghu Science City as the center, it has built a large complex of world-class scientific and technological infrastructure, and enhanced the efficiency of eight laboratories in Hubei Province. Leading companies such as HGTECH and Yangtze Memory have led the establishment of 10 joint laboratories in industrial innovation, achieving breakthroughs in key technologies such as ultra-high-power fiber lasers. It has hosted 11 international enterprise innovation centers and 15 joint laboratories under the Belt and Road Initiative to deepen international scientific and technological cooperation. Funds such as the Wuhan Fund and Jiangcheng Fund have been established to optimize the eco-environment of talents and finance.

Examples of companies are even more active: Huandao Biotechnology's animal physiological signal sensor can monitor more than 20 parameters in real time, and the 17-member team is expected to generate revenue of over 10 million yuan this year. Huiguan Biotechnology, with the world's leading ultra-thin light blade technology, has achieved a wavelength of 400 nm and has begun cooperation with Beijing University and Wuhan University. WHIIID Institute of Open Space Integrated Intelligent Transportation System is promoting the practical application and cost reduction of low-altitude aircraft, becoming a model of "hub-type" innovation platform.

Today's Wuhan, using science and technology as a calligraphy pen, continues to write a new chapter of high-quality development.

Zhao Yuxuan, CEO of Wuhan Huiguan Biotechnology, gave a presentation to journalists at the Hubei Youth Innovation Demonstration Park (Optical Valley).
