BEIJING, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) — Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan met with Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni and Queen Mother Norodom Moninea Sihanouk in Beijing on Tuesday.

Xi Jinping extended warm greetings to the guests who visited China once again and welcomed King Norodom Sihamoni's attendance at the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

Xi Jinping recalled his state visit to Cambodia in April this year and the hospitality shown to him by King N. Sihamoni and the Cambodian people.

China-Cambodia relations have withstood the test of international vicissitudes, and the two countries, through sharing joys and sorrows, have forged an ironclad friendship that has become a treasured asset for their peoples and deserves to be treasured even more by both sides, Xi said.

Facing an international situation characterized by both changes and turbulence, China and Cambodia should further unite, develop traditional friendship, strengthen solidarity and cooperation, accelerate the building of an all-weather China-Cambodia community with a shared future in the new era, and bring more benefits to the two peoples, he said.

Xi Jinping said China firmly supports the Cambodian people in following a development path suited to their national conditions and achieving long-term peace and stability in the country.

Norodom Sihamoni and Norodom Moninea Sihanouk said they were pleased to visit China again and to be invited to attend the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

The Chinese people have made significant contributions to maintaining world peace, which deserves to be remembered forever, they stressed.

They also mentioned that during Chinese President Xi Jinping's historic state visit to Cambodia in April this year, the two sides discussed strengthening friendship and expanding cooperation and achieved important results.

They said Cambodia always views bilateral relations from a strategic height and is willing to carry forward traditional friendship and jointly build an all-weather Cambodia-China community with a shared future in the new era. -0-
