QINGDAO, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) — Another China-Europe train carrying Chinese-made goods including excavators, tires and refrigerators departed from the Multimodal Transport Center of the China-SCO Regional Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Zone (hereinafter referred to as the China-SCO Demonstration Zone) in Jiaozhou City, east China's Shandong Province on Monday. It is expected to arrive at Russia's Selyatino station in 15 days.
As of August 26, 450 China-Europe trains have departed from the China-SCO Demonstration Zone since the beginning of this year, a record high compared with the same periods in previous years. They carried 47,000 standard containers (TEU, twenty-foot equivalent unit) of goods, up more than 10,500 TEU or 28.8 percent year-on-year.
To date, direct cross-border rail service has already linked the China-SCO Demonstration Zone Multimodal Transport Center with more than 20 cities in SCO member states.
Data shows that between 6 and 10 trains arrive and depart from the center every day. The maximum number of TEUs handled per day reached 2,000. -0-
