BEIJING, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) — The People's Liberation Army (PLA) held a scientific symposium in the Chinese capital on Tuesday to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China Zhang Youxia called on the armed forces to remember that a country can only be secure with a strong army.
Zhang Youxia stressed the need to strengthen the absolute leadership of the Communist Party of China over the armed forces, comprehensively strengthen combat training and military readiness, accelerate the modernization of national defense and the army through deepening reform, scientific and technological independence, and reorganization of the military command system.
He also called for upholding the post-World War II international order, vigorously advancing the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, and ensuring that China always remains an unwavering force for world peace. –0–
