WASHINGTON, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) — U.S. President Donald Trump told reporters on Monday that he spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin after meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders at the White House on Aug. 18.
He noted that security guarantees for Ukraine have not yet been formulated definitively. D. Trump suggested that Europe take the leading role with the “support” of the United States.
“We haven’t even discussed the details of that yet,” the head of the White House said. “Europe is going to give them [Ukraine — Xinhua] significant security guarantees, and they should do that because they are right there, but we will be involved in terms of support to help them.”
D. Trump added that during a meeting with V. Putin on August 15 in the American state of Alaska, he discussed with him the reduction of the nuclear arsenals of the United States and Russia after the end of the Ukrainian crisis. –0–
