BEIJING, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) — The third China North Opening Up Economic and Trade Fair kicked off in Hohhot, capital of North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, on Monday, the Chinese daily Neimenggu Ribao reported on Tuesday.

More than 300 representatives from various circles of people from China and abroad gathered at the event to discuss cooperation plans and find new opportunities for development.

At the opening of the fair, presentations were made by representatives of Mongolia, Russia and Japan, as well as officials of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Republic.

The fair unveiled the “Common Plan for Joint Development of the China-Mongolia Ereenhot-Zamyn-Uud Economic Cooperation Zone,” and signed agreements on 21 key projects with a total investment of 65.294 billion yuan (US$9.18 billion). These projects cover areas such as cross-border trade in services, mineral resource development, technical cooperation in new energy, the establishment of the “Great Tea Road” service trade platform, and the export of used cars to Russia.

A representative of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Commerce Department noted that the current fair will give a new powerful impetus to regional trade and economic cooperation. According to him, the signing of agreements on the implementation of 21 projects at the event will help promote the construction of the China-Mongolia-Russia economic corridor and the deep integration of cross-border production chains. -0-
