BEIJING, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) — The 7th Far East Cup International Sailing Regatta kicked off Sunday in Qingdao, east China's Shandong Province, with 110 athletes from China, Russia, the Republic of Korea and other countries and regions taking part.

According to the schedule, the eight participating teams will set sail from Qingdao, sail via Vladivostok and a number of ports in the Republic of Korea, and return to Qingdao in a month. The total length of the route is more than 2,900 nautical miles.

The international sailing regatta “Far Eastern Cup” was first held in 2016. It filled a gap in long-distance sailing competitions in the Asia-Pacific region.

The regatta is timed to coincide with the Eastern Economic Forum, the Zhongxinshe news agency reports. After arriving in Vladivostok, the athletes will take part in sailing events as part of the forum.

The organizer of the International Sailing Regatta “Far East Cup” is the Qingdao City Physical Culture and Sports Administration together with other local organizations. -0-
