BEIJING, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) — Russian ballet dancers will give several performances in Beijing as part of the upcoming dance festival of the National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA) of China, demonstrating the aesthetic features of Russian ballet, the NCPA said in a post on its official account on the social network Wechat.
The 12th dance festival of the NCIT, also known as the National Grand Theatre of China, will be held from September 20 to December 7 this year. The event will open with a special dance program by Natalia Osipova, a Russian ballet dancer and prima ballerina of the Royal Ballet in London. The program will be presented to the public on September 20 and 21.
During the dance festival, the Mariinsky Theatre ballet troupe will perform Ilya Tchaikovsky’s ballet Swan Lake on October 11 and 12, and the ballet Corsaire on the 13 and 14 of the same month.
According to the NCII poster, the troupe of the St. Petersburg State Academic Ballet Theatre of Boris Eifman will present the ballets “Anna Karenina” and “The Brothers Karamazov” on November 6-7 and 8-9, respectively, based on the novels of the same name by Leo Tolstoy and Fyodor Dostoevsky.
During the festival, Chinese performers will also present a varied program, from ballets and a series of modern dances to dance performances that reflect the quintessence of traditional Chinese culture.
During the 78 days of the festival, viewers will see a total of 36 performances from 16 repertoires, the NCII said in a statement. -0-
