Li Yingying, a junior research fellow at the Institute of Eurasian Studies at the China Institute of International Studies, noted in an article for the Tianjin Ribao on August 19 that the institutional basis of the SCO's trade and economic cooperation is continuously being strengthened.

Over the past years, a comprehensive mechanism for economic cooperation has been created within the SCO.

On the basis of the Council of Heads of State and the Council of Heads of Government (Prime Ministers), regular mechanisms for meetings of ministers of economy and trade, ministers of transport, ministers of energy, etc. have been created, and working groups on customs issues, e-commerce and investment promotion have been established.

Such documents as the “Program of Multilateral Trade and Economic Cooperation of the SCO Member States” and the “Agreement between the Governments of the SCO Member States on the Creation of Favorable Conditions for International Automobile Transportation” were signed. All this laid a solid foundation for deepening mutually beneficial cooperation between the SCO member states.
