BEIJING, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) — A meeting of political, business and academic circles from China and Mongolia was held Sunday in Hohhot, capital of north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, under the theme of "deepening China-Mongolia cooperation and jointly promoting industrial innovation," the Chinese daily Neimenggu Ribao reported Monday.

Thanks to the joint efforts of the two sides, the investment field is constantly expanding, covering not only traditional mining, manufacturing, livestock processing and other industries, but also new areas such as the digital economy and green energy. China has long been Mongolia's largest trading partner, he noted.

According to Chinese statistics, the trade volume between China and Mongolia reached US$18.62 billion in 2024, up 10.1 percent year on year. Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region accounted for about 63 percent of China's total trade with Mongolia. A representative of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Commerce Department said in his speech at the meeting that economic and trade cooperation is an important driving force for the sustainable and stable development of China-Mongolia relations. With the continuous progress of the Belt and Road Initiative and the construction of the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor, the scale of economic cooperation between the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Mongolia will continue to expand. According to him, this meeting will promote the high-quality development of economic and trade cooperation between China and Mongolia.
