BEIJING, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) — A project to build a China-Russia express train control and distribution center is being accelerated in the Manzhouli Comprehensive Bonded Zone in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, which will help improve the efficiency of the Manzhouli checkpoint, according to a statement posted on the website of the city's mayor's office.

The new project, which will cost 82 million yuan (about 11.5 million US dollars), will consist of four main parts, including the railway checkpoint work area, the road checkpoint work area, the customs inspection area of the international express processing center and the multimodal transportation management system. The total construction area will reach 5,360 square meters.

At present, the project has achieved interim results: the construction of the main parts of the steel structures of the cargo inspection rooms at the road and railway checkpoints has been completed, while the steel structure of the express shipment inspection room is being installed systematically. Completion of the project is scheduled for the end of October and beginning of November 2025.

As noted in the statement of the Manzhouli City Hall, the implementation of the above-mentioned project will significantly improve the operational efficiency of the Manzhouli checkpoint, accelerate the development of the comprehensive bonded zone, give new impetus to the development of the local economy, deepen cross-border cooperation in logistics and transportation with Russia, and strengthen Manzhouli's strategic status as an important hub for cross-border logistics between China and Russia. -0-
