FUZHOU, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) — Lou Wenlong, a former deputy governor of the Agricultural Bank of China, has been sentenced to life in prison for accepting bribes, officials said Monday.
According to the verdict handed down by the Intermediate People's Court of Quanzhou City, Fujian Province (East China), Lou Wenlong was also deprived of his political rights for life, and all his personal and illegally acquired property was confiscated in favor of the state.
During the trial, it was established that between 2005 and 2024, Lou Wenlong abused his official powers while holding various positions, including positions in the China Banking Regulatory Commission and the Security Council of China, to assist third parties and third-party organizations in obtaining permits, construction contracts, financing and providing loans, for which he received from them cash and material assets totaling 84.51 billion yuan (approximately 11.88 billion US dollars).
Lou Wenlong's public trial began on June 6, 2025. In his final statement, the defendant admitted his guilt and repented of his actions. -0-
