BEIJING, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) — Russian forests and Central Asian exotica are very attractive to residents of Guangdong Province in southern China who are planning to make overseas tourist trips during the upcoming National Day holidays, the Guangzhou Daily newspaper reported.

The National Day of the People's Republic of China is celebrated on October 1. Moreover, this year, October 6 is the Mid-Autumn Festival, which is celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar. Thus, from October 1 to 8, China will have an 8-day holiday.

In recent days, travel agencies and online travel platforms have been receiving increasing inquiries about overseas travel during the upcoming “golden week.” The peak of overseas tour bookings is expected to occur in late August.

According to Guangzhou Kanghui Travel Service, tourists prefer to visit places famous for their beautiful autumn scenery. The most popular tourist destinations include Russia, Central Asian countries, Eastern European countries, Japan and the Republic of Korea.

There is a noticeable increase in interest among Chinese tourists in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, as well as the Caucasus region, the travel agency added.

Some previously unpopular tourist destinations have regained popularity in the tourism market thanks to the opening of new direct flights, the Guangzhilui travel agency reported.

Currently, direct flights connect Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong Province, with Almaty, Tashkent, Belgrade and other cities around the world, which allows for a significant reduction in travel costs compared to previous years, the newspaper writes. -0-
