KABUL, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) — A total of 1,693 Afghan refugee families (6,202 people) returned home from neighboring Iran and Pakistan on Friday, the Afghan High Commission for the Resolution of Repatriate Issues said on Saturday.

The report said the refugees entered Afghanistan through the Islam Qala, Torkham, Spin Boldak and Abresham border crossings located in the provinces of Herat, Nangarhar, Kandahar and Nimroz respectively.

This year alone, more than 2 million Afghans, including 500,000 children, have returned from Iran, Pakistan and other countries, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) reported in early August. –0–
