BEIJING, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) — A total of 135 trade and economic cooperation projects worth 43.502 billion yuan (about 6.1 billion U.S. dollars) were signed at the 15th Kashgar Central and South Asia Trade Fair that concluded recently.
This was reported by the news website chinanews.com.cn, citing information published at a briefing by the Press Office of the People's Government of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR, Northwest China).
In addition, the Xinjiang-Central Asia Cross-Border Payment Center in Kashgar, the International Center for Selected Commodities from Linyi, China, Targeting Central and South Asia, and the Transportation Facilitation Center of the China Road Transport Association in Kashgar were officially opened on the sidelines of the fair.
It is also noteworthy that, as part of the fair, Kashgar County managed to establish sister city relations with 7 cities in Uzbekistan, Laos and other countries, bringing the number of sister cities in the county to 21 pairs.
Zhou Jie, deputy director of the Kashgar Prefectural Commerce Bureau, concluded that with the goal of building a platform for regional and international economic and trade cooperation, this fair has given more and more significant energy to promoting the high-quality development of Kashgar.
