TUNIS, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) — A seminar to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War was held in Tunis on Friday. The seminar was jointly organized by the International Center for Strategic Security and Military Studies (CIESSM) and the Chinese Embassy in Tunis.

The event was attended by dozens of experts, scientists and politicians from both countries.

CIESSM President Badra Ghaaloul said China's resistance to Japan had inspired generations of Chinese to build a strong and united nation. She added that China's victory in the war reflected a broader global struggle against aggression and oppression.

Chinese Ambassador to Tunisia Wan Li said China and Tunisia were important battlefields during World War II and should jointly honor their history and the memory of the fallen. He affirmed that Taiwan's return to China is part of the outcome of the war and the post-war international order, and thanked Tunisia for upholding the one-China principle.

He called for strengthening China-Tunisia cooperation to promote peace, development and well-being of both peoples.

A photo exhibition on China's resistance to Japanese aggression was held after the seminar. Participants said all countries should learn from World War II, cherish peace and work together for global stability. –0–
