BEIJING, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) — China's e-commerce sector saw robust growth in the first seven months of 2025, with online sales of various goods showing significant gains, the Ministry of Commerce said Friday.

According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), China's online retail sales grew 9.2 percent year-on-year in the first seven months of this year.

The ministry noted that digital gadgets and trade-in programs for consumer goods have become new drivers of online consumption: sales of personal computers grew by 29.9 percent year-on-year, and smart wearable devices by 28.4 percent.

In addition, online consumption of services grew rapidly during the specified period: online sales in the tourism sector increased by 24.8 percent, public catering by 16.6 percent, and cultural and entertainment services by 11 percent.

The ministry said strong linkages between industries and e-commerce platforms have helped expand distribution channels for various products. Transaction volumes for agricultural products, electronics and textiles increased by 14.5 percent, 7.9 percent and 6.5 percent, respectively, year-on-year.

The cooperation under the "Silk Road e-Commerce" has promoted cross-border sales and mutual benefits through themed events, partnership initiatives and industry matching meetings, the ministry added.

According to the ministry, online sales of Egyptian essential oils and Uzbek confectionery products increased by 179.2 percent and 104.7 percent, respectively, over seven months. –0–
