BOGOTA, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) — Five people were killed and 36 others were injured in a terrorist attack near the Marco Fidel Suarez Air Base in the Colombian city of Cali on Thursday, the city's mayor's office said.

According to the Colombian Aerospace Force (FAC), the “terrorist attack” involving a bomb occurred at around 2:50 p.m. local time. They reiterated their commitment to the safety of Colombians.

“The unified command post continues to operate, and all aid organizations are responding to the emergency situation,” the mayor’s office said.

According to the FAC, work is currently underway to assess the damage to facilities and personnel, as well as an investigation to determine the cause and perpetrators of the attack. –0–
