ISLAMABAD, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) — Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari met visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi here on Thursday.

The President said that no matter how the international situation changes, Pakistan will have full confidence in China and will stand unwaveringly by its side.

A.A. Zardari noted that Pakistan-China friendship has stood the test of time and the two countries are all-weather good friends and partners. The world is facing risks and challenges, but China stands up to them with courage, opposes bullying, and firmly defends its own interests and the common interests of developing countries.

The Pakistani leader thanked China for its selfless assistance in Pakistan's socio-economic development and expressed readiness to cooperate with China in advancing cooperation projects such as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and Gwadar Port to bring more benefits to the peoples of both countries.

The President also expressed hope that the two countries will continue to strengthen coordination and cooperation on major international and regional issues to jointly maintain regional peace, stability, prosperity and development.

In turn, Wang Yi said that China's development represents the growth of the strength of global peace and stability, as well as the strength of developing countries, stressing that no forces or difficulties can hinder China's development.

He said China-Pakistan friendship has stood the test of time and is unbreakable. China has always prioritized relations with Pakistan in its neighborhood diplomacy and is grateful for Pakistan's long-standing support for China's core interests and major concerns.

Wang Yi stressed that China will continue to support Pakistan's efforts to safeguard its sovereignty, territorial integrity and national dignity.

In the face of the changing international situation, China is willing to work with Pakistan to deepen their traditional friendship, strengthen strategic coordination, create an updated version 2.0 of the CPEC project, and build a closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era for the benefit of the two peoples, the FM said. –0–
