BEIJING, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) — China is willing to work with the Republic of Korea (ROK) to elevate the two countries' strategic cooperation and partnership to a higher level, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said Friday.
The female diplomat thus answered journalists’ questions at a regular departmental press conference about the development of relations between China and the Republic of Korea against the backdrop of the 33rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries being celebrated on August 24.
Calling China and the ROK "immovable close neighbors," Mao Ning stressed that the comprehensive and rapid development of bilateral ties in the 33 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations demonstrates that healthy, stable and deepening China-ROK relations meet the fundamental interests of the peoples of both countries, and are conducive to peace, stability, development and prosperity in the region and the world at large.
China is willing to join hands with the ROK to remain true to the original aspirations of establishing diplomatic relations, firmly adhere to the direction of good-neighborliness and friendship, as well as the goal of mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation, to advance the development of bilateral ties to a higher level, the representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry concluded. -0-
