BEIJING, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) — Southwest China's Chongqing's trade turnover with Central Asian countries increased by 90 percent in the first seven months of this year, the Zhongxinshe news agency reported, citing customs data.

The city's foreign trade volume increased by 9.1 percent year-on-year to 434.46 billion yuan in January-July. In terms of growth rate, Central Asia outpaced other emerging markets for the city, including Latin America, the Middle East and Africa.

According to data published on the website of Chongqing Customs, in the first seven months of this year, Chongqing's trade turnover with Kazakhstan increased by 70.8 percent to 1.93 billion yuan, with Kyrgyzstan – by 158.9 percent to 1.09 billion yuan, with Tajikistan – by 319.3 percent to 105.43 million yuan, with Turkmenistan – by 193.3 percent to 43.9 million yuan, with Uzbekistan – by 63.3 percent to 899.13 million yuan.
