MINSK, August 22 /Xinhua/ – Belarus has increased its presence in all areas of the SCO activities to the maximum extent possible, First Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Sergei Lukashevich said on Thursday. The relevant information was published by BELTA on the same day.
According to S. Lukashevich, Belarus has ensured participation in 25 meetings of heads of SCO ministries and departments and 26 events at the level of working groups. The official also noted that on June 5, 2025, Belarusbank OJSC was accepted into the list of member banks of the SCO Interbank Association. In May of this year, six Belarusian universities joined the activities of the SCO University.
"Over the past year, Belarus has been able to maximally increase its presence in all areas of SCO activity and, without delay, actively join the work. We have become convinced that within the SCO, Belarus can implement its strategic priorities, promote the development of multifaceted cooperation and contribute to common projects," noted S. Lukashevich.
Belarus also expressed confidence that following the results of the SCO summit in Tianjin, decisions will be made that will strengthen the institutional potential of the organization. First of all, in the area of joint combating cross-border challenges: terrorism, cyber threats, drug trafficking.
"In the economic sphere, we expect to promote initiatives to simplify customs procedures, stimulate mutual investments, develop the digital economy and transport connectivity, and support green energy. We are also ready to work on expanding humanitarian exchanges. All these areas are extremely important for Belarus," S. Lukashevich summed up. –0–
