BEIJING, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) — China's National Development and Reform Commission on Friday allocated 30 million yuan (about 4.21 million U.S. dollars) from the central government budget to help cope with severe flooding and geological disasters in southwest China's Yunnan Province.

The funds will be used to restore damaged roads, hydraulic structures and other infrastructure and public services in order to return to normal production activities and everyday life as soon as possible.

Heavy rains have caused widespread flooding and geological disasters in parts of Yunnan Province since mid-August, prompting the National Disaster Prevention, Mitigation and Relief Commission to issue a Level 4 emergency response for the region on Friday. –0–
