ISLAMABAD, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) — Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has reiterated his country's unwavering commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms.
"Pakistan stands in solidarity with the victims of terrorism around the world… this solidarity reflects the deepest feelings of the Pakistani people," the prime minister said on Wednesday on the occasion of the International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism.
Highlighting the impact of terrorism on Pakistan, he said the country had paid the highest price in the fight against terrorism, sacrificing over 90,000 lives and incurring huge economic losses.
Highlighting the successes in the fight against terrorism, Sharif noted that the country has carried out numerous military operations and intelligence-driven actions that have resulted in the destruction of terrorist networks, the thwarting of countless terrorist plots and the saving of many lives.
“The landmark National Action Plan (to combat terrorism) embodies our comprehensive strategy to combat terrorism, combining ground operations with ideological, administrative and institutional measures against extremism,” he said.
The Prime Minister added that national solidarity in the fight against terrorism is the guarantee of peace, stability, prosperity and a bright future for Pakistan. –0–
