ISLAMABAD, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, held the 6th round of the China-Pakistan Strategic Dialogue at the foreign ministers' level in Islamabad on Thursday.
The Chinese diplomat noted that under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, the China-Pakistan all-weather strategic cooperative partnership has steadily advanced, acquiring greater strategic significance. The Chinese Foreign Minister congratulated Pakistan on its July presidency of the UN Security Council, its advocacy of justice for developing countries, and the enhancement of Pakistan's international status and influence.
China is willing to work with Pakistan to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and prepare for high-level interaction in the second half of the year, so that the construction of a community of shared future for China and Pakistan continues to take the lead in China's construction of a community of shared future for its neighbors, the Chinese Foreign Minister said.
In addition, Wang Yi continued, China supports Pakistan in developing and strengthening its national strength to fundamentally enhance its ability to respond to domestic and external challenges. The two sides should jointly uphold the multilateral trading system and oppose unilateral bullying.
M. I. Dar, for his part, said that the bilateral strategic dialogue was held in a timely manner and is a concrete manifestation of the unbreakable friendship between the two countries. Friendship with China is the cornerstone of Pakistan's foreign policy and a national consensus, the diplomat stressed, adding that the Pakistani side will continue to fully support China's work as the current chairman of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and jointly promote the successful holding of the Tianjin Summit of the organization.
The Pakistani side expects further deepening of practical cooperation with China in various fields and continuous enrichment of the content of Pakistan-China relations of all-weather strategic cooperation and partnership, noted M.I. Dar.
The Pakistani Foreign Minister added that his country will firmly support the construction of a Pakistan-China community of shared future, support the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative.
Pakistan will make every effort to combat all forms of terrorism and take all measures to ensure the safety of Chinese institutions and workers in Pakistan, M.I. Dar said.
The two sides also held an in-depth exchange of views on international and regional issues of mutual interest. –0–
