ISLAMABAD, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Thursday called on China and Pakistan to advance their all-weather strategic cooperative partnership guided by the "four constancies" principles.
Wang Yi, also a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, made the statement in Islamabad during a joint press conference with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar following the 6th round of China-Pakistan Strategic Dialogue at the level of foreign ministers.
Wang Yi said the dialogue was held in a warm and brotherly atmosphere, with the two sides reaching consensus on almost all issues through comprehensive and in-depth strategic communication.
Strategic cooperation between China and Pakistan is of great significance to the common development of the two countries as well as regional peace and stability, Wang said, noting that the unbreakable friendship between the two countries is growing stronger day by day, and the China-Pakistan all-weather strategic cooperative partnership is solid.
The Chinese Foreign Minister stressed that China and Pakistan will always adhere to the principles of the “four constancies,” the first of which is to constantly maintain a high level of mutual trust and mutual support.
He noted that the two sides agreed to use the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries as a strategic guideline, continuously strengthen and deepen strategic mutual trust, and firmly support each other in protecting their fundamental interests.
Wang Yi stressed that the two sides will always focus on development, mutual benefit and win-win, adding that China and Pakistan agreed that the current priority of bilateral cooperation is to jointly build a high-quality China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and create its upgraded "version 2.0".
According to him, the two sides will step up efforts to deepen cooperation in three key areas, including industry, agriculture and mining, and will effectively improve the well-being of the Pakistani people, cultivate Pakistan's self-reliant development potential and enhance the resilience of its economy.
Referring to the recent natural disaster caused by heavy rains in Pakistan, Wang Yi said China shares the feelings of the Pakistani people and plans to immediately provide emergency humanitarian aid to Pakistan.
China and Pakistan will always safeguard security and improve people's livelihood, Wang stressed, noting that China highly appreciates Pakistan's tireless efforts and enormous sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and believes that its anti-terrorism efforts will ultimately succeed.
According to the Chinese Foreign Minister, the Pakistani side will effectively protect the security of Chinese citizens, projects and institutions in the country, while continuing to further deepen cooperation with China in the areas of counter-terrorism and security, as well as strengthen cooperation in regional anti-terrorism affairs.
He added that the two sides will also actively promote exchanges and cooperation in areas such as education, youth and culture to strengthen public support and the social foundation of China-Pakistan friendship.
In addition, China and Pakistan will continuously strengthen coordination and jointly respond to challenges, Wang Yi stressed, adding that under conditions where the regional situation in South Asia is closely linked with global changes, the two sides agreed to strengthen coordination and cooperation in regional affairs, build cooperation based on the Asian values of peace, cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, and jointly build a peaceful, calm, prosperous, beautiful and friendly Asian home.
The parties will firmly defend the results of the victory in World War II, adhere to genuine multilateralism and oppose all forms of unilateral bullying, the head of the Chinese Foreign Ministry noted.
China and Pakistan will regard the Initiative on Global Development, the Initiative on Global Security and the Initiative on Global Civilization as important platforms and tools, actively strengthen the unity and cooperation of countries in the Global South, and jointly promote an equitable and orderly multipolar world and an inclusive economic globalization that benefits everyone, making unremitting efforts to build a community with a shared future for mankind, Wang Yi concluded. –0–
