A symposium dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War was held in Dubai, UAE. The event was attended by more than 100 people, including expatriates, ethnic Chinese and Chinese students studying in the UAE.
Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Dubai Ou Boqian said in her welcoming speech that turning to history is intended to preserve the memory of peoples about the path they have traveled, honor the memory of heroes, and help them realize the value of peace that was so hard won for us. The Consul General also emphasized the importance of preserving this peace and jointly building the future based on learning historical lessons from the past.
The participants of the symposium delivered speeches expressing their commitment to historical memory and peace. The participants also stated that this is not just a revival of history in memory, but also the continuity of the patriotic spirit. Ethnic Chinese living abroad continue to support the motherland and contribute to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, as well as to the promotion of peace and development of mankind.
Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the UAE Zhang Yiming summed up the symposium, stressing that the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression made an invaluable contribution to the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War. The Ambassador called on compatriots abroad to uphold the spirit of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, move forward and make new and more significant contributions to the great cause of reunification of the motherland and strengthening friendly exchanges between the People's Republic of China and the United Arab Emirates.
