The Forbes rating has been conducted since 2021 with the aim of identifying the 100 best universities in Russia. Educational institutions are assessed in five key areas: networking quality, employer reputation, international reputation, academic environment, and the Forbes factor (the number of university graduates on the Forbes list of Russian billionaires for the corresponding year).
In addition, a mandatory condition for participation is that the university has bachelor's and specialist's degree programs, as well as the number of students in the two academic years preceding the reporting year – at least 400 people.
In 2025, SPbGASU entered the top 100 universities in the Forbes ranking for the first time, taking 49th place.
