LHASA, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) — Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday called for joint efforts and unity to write a beautiful chapter in the history of Chinese-style modernization in the region during a meeting with representatives of all ethnic groups and all walks of life in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region.
Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), extended sincere greetings and warm wishes to all ethnic groups in Xizang on behalf of the CPC Central Committee.
A central government delegation led by Xi Jinping arrived in the regional capital Lhasa earlier in the day to attend events to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of Xizang Autonomous Region.
In addition, on Wednesday afternoon, Xi Jinping held separate meetings with representatives of cadres who came to Xizang from other regions of the country to provide assistance, local leaders at various levels and departments, political and legal officials and law enforcement officers, as well as patriotic figures from religious circles.
The Chinese leader also met with army officers of the rank of colonel and above, and some exemplary workers at the grassroots level and civilian personnel of the troops stationed in Lhasa. On behalf of the CPC Central Committee and the Central Military Commission, he extended sincere greetings to all the military personnel serving in Xizang.
The meetings were attended by members of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee Wang Huning and Cai Qi. –0–
