LHASA, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) — Chinese President Xi Jinping attended a grand concert to mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region in the regional capital Lhasa on Wednesday evening.
Xi Jinping, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, watched the theatrical performance titled "Joyful Songs of the Snowy Highlands" together with representatives of all ethnic groups in Xizang.
The concert program included three sections. The first part narrated the vivid episodes of the construction of the socialist new Xizang. The second part demonstrated the vibrant vitality brought to the snowy plateau by the policy of reform and openness, and the final part presented the audience with a happy new Xizang.
The event was also attended by senior members of the country's leadership, including Wang Huning and Cai Qi.
Xi Jinping arrived in Lhasa earlier on Wednesday leading a central government delegation to attend events to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Xizang Autonomous Region. –0–
