MINSK, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) — The shared experience of World War II has deepened mutual understanding between China and Belarus and united the peoples of the two countries, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Belarus Zhang Wenchuan said in Chinese media on Wednesday.

"This year marks the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. Eighty years ago, all the just forces of the world, including China and Belarus, heroically fought as a united front and won a victory over the fascist invaders, writing a heroic chapter in the history of mankind," the ambassador noted.

Zhang Wenchuan noted that eighty years later, the peoples of China and Belarus solemnly celebrate the great Victory, jointly preserving historical memory and creating a bright future. “The shared experience of World War II deepened mutual understanding between China and Belarus and united our peoples. Chinese-Belarusian friendship, tempered in the fire of war, is growing stronger every day,” the diplomat stated.

According to the ambassador, China and Belarus adhere to the correct view of the history of World War II and resolutely fight any attempts to distort the historical truth about it and deny the results of the Victory.

"Both of our countries are members of the UN, we support and protect the authority of the UN, firmly defend the international system with the UN at its core, as well as the international order based on international law and the fundamental norms of international relations based on the purposes and principles of the UN Charter. The peoples of China and Belarus remember history and cherish peace," Zhang Wenchuan emphasized.

"Under the strategic guidance of the leaders of China and Belarus, the all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership between our countries continues to develop at a high level, becoming a model of a new type of international relations and a stabilizing factor in an era of changes unprecedented in a century," the ambassador noted.

“As we jointly celebrate the 80th anniversary of the great Victory in the World Anti-Fascist War, we will remember history, honor the memory of heroes, cherish peace, create the future, jointly build a community with a shared future for mankind, and make tireless efforts for world peace, stability and prosperity,” Zhang Wenchuan concluded. –0–
