CHENGDU, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) — China is advancing efforts to preserve the ecological environment of national parks with advanced technology and a high-level scientific monitoring system, according to the "National Park Development Report" released Tuesday.

The State Forestry and Grassland Administration of China is promoting the integration and establishment of national conservation research centers for flagship species such as tigers, leopards and giant pandas to create a perfect scientific research platform, the report said.

The paper's data shows that national parks are increasingly using high-tech measures such as real-time monitoring systems that allow for 24-hour, comprehensive tracking of wildlife activity.

They are also implementing monitoring and early warning mechanisms to address human-wildlife conflicts. The measures include 24-hour vigils in key areas and pilot projects using protective equipment, thus forming a coordinated system for conflict prevention and control.

In 2021, China established its first batch of national parks with a protected area of 230,000 square kilometers.

The group of parks, which includes Sanjiangyuan National Park, Giant Panda National Park, Northeast China Tiger and Leopard National Park, Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park and Wuyi Mountain National Park, is home to nearly 30 percent of the country's key terrestrial wildlife species. -0-
