BEIJING, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) — The tourist consumption season in border areas of Heilongjiang Province recently kicked off in the city of Hulin, located on the bank of the Chinese-Russian border river Ussuri.
According to the Zhongxinwang news website, the provincial administration of culture and tourism, as the organizing party of this season, reported at the opening of the event that in the first half of 2025, 18 border cities, counties and districts of Heilongjiang Province received a total of about 16 million 97 thousand tourists, up 24.72 percent year on year, and the total tourist spending in these places reached 9.54 billion yuan (about 1.34 billion US dollars), up 36.09 percent year on year.
In order to promote the development of tourism in these border cities, counties and districts by pooling their distinctive tourism resources such as border rivers, border lakes, the northernmost point of Chinese territory and the place where the earliest sunrise can be seen in Chinese territory, the Heilongjiang Border Regions Tour Operators League was established.
On the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the said season, the second annual meeting of the League of Tour Operators in Border Regions was held to exchange successful experience in industry development, and a presentation of new tours in border regions was also held.
As a starting point for the season, Hulin City intends to put forward selected cruise routes along the border river, as well as a number of preferential measures for consumers in the cultural and tourism sector, the city's tourism department reported. -0-
