YEREVAN, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) — Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Armenia on Monday for a two-day official visit. He and his delegation were met by Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan at Yerevan's Zvartnots Airport.

On Tuesday, an official welcoming ceremony for M. Pezeshkian will take place at the residence of the President of Armenia, after which high-level talks will take place. The heads of the two countries will also make a statement to the press.

On the same day, an Armenian-Iranian business forum will be held in Yerevan.

Meanwhile, on Monday, a meeting was held in Yerevan between M. Grigoryan and the Vice President of Iran, Co-Chair of the Armenian-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission Seyed Hamid Pourmohammadi. According to the press service of the Armenian government, the parties discussed issues of bilateral relations and developments in the region. The interlocutors emphasized the importance of unblocking regional communications within the framework of full respect for the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty, jurisdiction and reciprocity.

M. Grigoryan confirmed Armenia’s readiness to develop relations with Iran, noting the great potential in the trade and economic sphere.

An agreement was reached to organize discussions of a number of important issues in the format of working groups with the aim of resolving them more effectively and constructively.
