KABUL, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) — Afghan police have foiled an attempt to smuggle drugs from the country's northern Takhar province to neighboring Tajikistan and arrested the suspect, regional police spokesman Nizamudin Omir said late Monday.
The suspected smuggler tried to transport 11 bags of hashish and one bag of methamphetamine through the Darqad district to Tajikistan on Monday, but police thwarted the attempt, he said.
The smuggler has been arrested and the case will be brought to court after the investigation is completed, N. Omir said. –0–
