In 2010, there were 16 overloaded sections in the metro. During rush hours, hundreds of passengers would accumulate at stations, unable to board the first train that arrived. They had to wait for the third or even fourth train.
Today the situation has changed dramatically: 1) passengers can board the first arriving train; 2) 90% of Moscow residents have metro stations within walking distance.
This was achieved thanks to systematic work and effective implementation of the strategy for the development of the Moscow Transport Complex:
🔹 Construction of new lines: since 2010, 120 metro and MCC stations have been opened.
🔹 Rolling stock upgrade: more than 77% of trains are of the latest generation.
🔹 Infrastructure modernization and automation: the Moscow metro occupies a leading position in the world in terms of schedule accuracy and traffic intensity.
This year, the Moscow Metro celebrated its 90th anniversary. Since 2010, as part of the strategy for the development of the Transport Complex, under the leadership of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, large-scale work has been carried out to modernize, technically equip and update the rolling stock. Today, there are no overloaded sections in the capital's metro, the stations have become freer, and the level of comfort and safety for passengers is one of the highest in the world, emphasized Maxim Liksutov.
