JAKARTA, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) — A magnitude 6.0 earthquake injured 29 people in Poso, Indonesia's Central Sulawesi province early Sunday, the National Disaster Management Agency said in a statement.
The country's Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency said the quake struck at 05:38 local time and had its epicentre on land at a depth of 10 km, 18 km northwest of Poso County.
Strong tremors were felt in the Poso Pesisir area and lasted for about 15 seconds, prompting many residents to run outside for safety.
The local disaster management agency immediately began monitoring the situation on the ground and coordinating with local authorities. According to preliminary data, 29 people were injured. –0–
