The company opens registration for the Geonavigation League 2025 – a championship in virtual drilling of horizontal wells in complex geological conditions. Traditionally, the competition will be held as part of the Rosneft IT Marathon, which is organized by the Moscow and Ufa corporate research institutes. The total prize fund is 1,000,000 rubles (before taxes).
Both students and oil and gas industry professionals are invited to participate in the Geonavigation League. Online rounds will be held in October-November, and the finalists will be determined based on their results.
The participants of the competition will have to analyze the current geological situation in real time based on incoming data, assess risks and build a well trajectory in the corporate simulator "RN-Gorizont". The task during drilling is to maintain the well trajectory in oil-saturated rock, promptly responding to unforeseen situations.
The in-person final of the Geonavigation League will take place in Moscow in December as part of the grand final of the IT Marathon.
Holding specialized competitions allows Rosneft to solve real production problems, attracting highly qualified personnel and talented youth to cooperation. For participants, this is an opportunity to prove themselves at the all-Russian level and create original solutions that will find application in modern digital technologies of the oil and gas industry.
In 2025, the IT Marathon will include four diverse competitions: the Academic Tournament, the Geonavigation League, the Additive Technologies and Reverse Engineering Cup, and information modeling competitions.
