Moscow, August 18 (Xinhua) — Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday held telephone conversations with the leaders of South Africa, India, Brazil, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan and told them about the results of his talks with US President Donald Trump in Alaska, the Kremlin press service reported.
During a conversation with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, V. Putin shared the main results of the Russian-American high-level talks held in Anchorage. The South African leader, for his part, supported diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the Ukrainian crisis.
During a conversation with his Russian counterpart, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon also welcomed the corresponding efforts. During the conversation, the parties discussed preparations for the Central Asia-Russia summit and the CIS Council of Heads of State, as well as for V. Putin's visit to Tajikistan. All these events will take place in Dushanbe in October.
"The Prime Minister of India thanked for the information provided. The leaders discussed the prospects for a long-term settlement of the crisis in Ukraine and agreed to continue the dialogue on this matter, as well as on other pressing international issues," the Kremlin press service said in a statement.
The Russian President also spoke about the results of the meeting in Alaska to his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who noted the importance of the information conveyed to him, including in light of the work within the Group of Friends of Peace in Ukraine.
In addition, V. Putin shared his assessments of the recent Russian-American meeting in Alaska during a telephone conversation with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov. In turn, S. Japarov expressed support for steps aimed at achieving a long-term settlement of the situation around Ukraine. The leaders of the two countries also discussed a number of topical issues of bilateral cooperation between Russia and Kyrgyzstan in the trade and economic sphere, as well as interaction within the framework of integration associations, including the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), which Kyrgyzstan chairs this year.
