BISHKEK, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) — Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation on Monday, and the sides exchanged views on the results of Putin's recent talks with U.S. President Donald Trump in Alaska, the Kyrgyz leader's press service reported.
S. Japarov noted that the Russian-American summit that took place was an important step towards strengthening trust and reducing global tensions. The Kyrgyz side is convinced that the achieved level of interaction between the Russian Federation and the United States creates additional conditions for finding a peaceful settlement to the Ukrainian crisis, the head of state added.
According to S. Japarov, Kyrgyzstan, which actively participates in the activities of regional integration associations, attaches exceptional importance to strengthening stability in the region and confirms its readiness to cooperate with Russia in the interests of sustainable development.
The parties also noted the importance of further exchange of views on important issues on the international and regional agenda.
As reported on Monday on the Kremlin website, during a telephone conversation with S. Japarov, V. Putin shared his assessments of the recent Russian-American summit in Alaska.
Russian and US Presidents Vladimir Putin and D. Trump met in Anchorage, Alaska, on Friday to discuss the Ukrainian issue and Russian-American relations. The parties called the meeting “constructive” and “fruitful,” but did not reach any agreements. –0–
