NANNING, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) — The 2025 Forum on ASEAN-oriented Cultural Exchanges and Cooperation was held in Liuzhou City, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, on Monday, bringing together representatives from China, ASEAN member states and international organizations.

The forum, themed “Museums and the Future of Cities,” was jointly organized by the Office of International Exchanges and Cooperation of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China and the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

The experts and scholars who attended the event exchanged and dialogued on two themes: “Industrial Heritage Protection and Sustainable Development” and “Integrated Development of Digital Technologies and Museums”. They discussed best practices such as the use of artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality, and big data for the digital preservation of cultural monuments, innovative exhibition storytelling, and improved visitor experiences.

As noted by Hap Tuch, Permanent Secretary of State at the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts of Cambodia, the forum is of great importance as it allows participants to learn from each other, respond to common challenges and identify new opportunities for regional cooperation in the digital era.

The event, formerly known as the China-ASEAN Cultural Forum, has been successfully held for 19 times and serves as a high-level platform for exchanges between China and ASEAN in the humanities.

The host region of the forum, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is at the forefront of China's openness and cooperation with ASEAN. –0–
